Early ISD Fifth Graders recently participated in their annual science fair using the Scientific Method to develop a project to display.
Students were given 2.5 weeks of class time to research an individually chosen topic. They were challenged to apply the Scientific Method to develop a project that was displayed on a trifold presentation board. This project was then displayed in the elementary gymnasium on February 25th for judges to critique. Each project was analyzed by three different judges, and the scores were averaged. Ribbons were awarded for 1st through 5th places in each homeroom teacher’s class. Other EISD students toured the Science Fair projects during the school day, and the evening event included around 200 guests. Children stood beside their projects, shook hands with those who visited their tables, and explained how the experiments worked and reasons they were relevant.
