Funeral services for Earl Wayne May Jr., age 80, of Brownwood will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church with Richard Hetzel and Richard Jackson officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Davis Morris Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
Wayne passed away on Monday, July 5, 2010 in San Angelo Texas at Shannon Medical Center.
He was born on January 22, 1930 in Gustine, Texas to Earl Wayne and Mary Lou May. Wayne grew up in Comanche County. He married the love of his life, Betty Lou Wallis, on October 27, 1951 in Llano, Texas. They made their home in Comanche, Llano and Brownwood. Wayne started trading livestock at the early age of eight years old. He began auctioneering at age seventeen in Goldthwaite Texas. Wayne auctioneered livestock and automobile auctions all over Texas before he retired. Wayne owned and operated auction sales in Llano, Brownwood, Lubbock and Decatur along with a large dairy farm, ranches and numerous other businesses. He was a 59 year member of the Hope Lodge # 481of Comanche, Texas and was a 32nd degee mason. He was also a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Brownwood. Wayne will be remembered for his generosity, charisma and his abundant love for his family.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Lou Wallis May, of Brownwood; two sons, Danny Wayne May and wife, Brenda, of Brownwood and John Walter May and wife, Lisa, of Brownwood; one daughter, Janet May Johnson and husband, Joseph, of Coleman; one daughter in law, Terry May Blagg of Brownwood; one sister, Johnnie May Boone of Austin. Grandchildren Julianna May McWilliams of Seattle, Washington; John Zachary May of Brownwood; Lezleigh Nicole May Seerey of Houston; Ashley May Johnson Moses of Houston; Perry Wayne May Blagg of Beaumont; Amber May Johnson of Houston; Joseph William Johnson of Lubbock; Kelcey Michelle May of Dallas; Logan Christopher May of Brownwood; one niece, Mary Lou Clayton and husband, Archie, of Austin. Three great granddaughters, Emory Ellis May, Brooklyn Kate Seerey, and Campbell May Moses. Numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Earl Lanham (Lanny) May, parents Earl and Mary Lou May, brother in law George Boone, father and mother in law Lanham and Lois Wallis and a niece Doris Boone.
Pallbearers will be Wayne’s grandsons Zachary May, Perry Blagg, Will Johnson and Logan May.
Honorary pallbearers are Joe Riley, Richard Sharpe, Merle Kelton, Sonny Teague, Richard Hetzel, Dale Biggs, Stanton Brown, Nelson Turnbow, and Don Johnson.
