The driver arrested in the multi-vehicle accident Saturday night on Williams Ranch Road (FM 2525) in Early has been charged with intoxication assault with vehicle, according to law enforcement.  As a result of the accident, two people were injured, one of which was airlifted to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

According to law enforcement, the driver, identified as 23-year-old Keifer James King of Early, was found to be intoxicated at the time of the accident.  King’s vehicle also contained a large cooler which contained alcoholic beverages according to law enforcement.

The accident occurred shortly before 6:00 p.m. Saturday night.  According to law enforcement on scene, a Chevy Malibu and an extended cab Chevy truck  were traveling southbound together on Williams Ranch Road (FM 2525), to a nearby residence, when the accident occurred.  Just after the intersection of County Road 317, the Malibu attempted to turn into a residence when it collided with a Chevy Traverse which was traveling in the northbound lane.  The Chevy truck driven by King then struck the Malibu, pushing all of the wrecked vehicles into three parked vehicles at the residence.

The driver of the Malibu, a 24-year-old male, was transported by Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth for treatment of his injuries.  The Air Evac helicopter was dispatched from Eastland due to the Brownwood unit being called to a previous accident in Hamilton, according to law enforcement.

The female driver of the Traverse was transported by ambulance to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of her injuries.
