Plans are underway for Howard Payne University’s annual Homecoming weekend, to be held on October 23 and 24.
A significant event this year will be the reunion of the “Dream Cast” from 1959. Fifty years ago this cast from HPU’s theatre department toured Great Britain with a Texas version of William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The production was the brainchild of the late Alex Reeve, of the theatre department and former director of the Northampton Repertory Theatre. The trip logistics were executed by Dr. McDonald W. Held, chair of the department, and the costumes created by Beverly Held, lecturer in theatre. The group plans to meet on Saturday, October 24 at 5 p.m. in the balcony of the Mabee University Center. All cast members are invited to return to campus for this significant anniversary.
Traditional events including the Golden Graduate Luncheon, Alumni Awards Banquet, Homecoming Parade, Picnic on the Plaza and Sports Hall of Fame banquet will be held throughout the weekend.
