My name is Paul Lilly and I am pleased and honored to announce my candidacy for the Republican nomination to be the next Brown County Judge.

I am sure that each of us sees our county from a number of viewpoints, depending on where we live and where we work. Whether you are a second or third generation resident of Brown County or whether you are a new resident; or whether you are retired and enjoying the rewards of your long and hard work, or if you are still in the work force simply trying to provide for your family and to stay ahead of the next obstacle life throws your way; we all share a common bond in that Brown County is our home. With this being said, I desire to be your next Brown County Judge. My beliefs are simple and likely very similar to or are the same as yours.

I firmly believe that government should be limited in the role it plays in our lives. Big government is never the answer and it is time that government discovers new ways to do more with less. Over-regulation and taxing and spending are perhaps the greatest danger we face today from all branches of government.

As your County Judge I give you my word that I will do everything in my power to protect you, your family, your home and your job from an over-reaching government. I do feel that there are new initiatives that our county government can launch to better assist in the promotion of our County as a wonderful place to live, work, and even vacation. As your County Judge, I will use my many years of experience in public service to find new and innovative ways to work hand-in-hand with the newly created Brownwood and Early Municipal Development Districts to help our local businesses grow and expand and to help bring much-needed new businesses and affordable housing to Brown County.

As an associate professor of criminal justice and a public servant for almost thirty years, I am familiar with how all levels of government operate. Through this combination of experience and education, I know first-hand that there are literally hundreds of grants and other free resources available to our community, if we simply know where to look and apply. By utilizing more resources such as these to bring additional funds into our county, we can lessen the burden on our local businesses, school districts, and cities, but most importantly you, the taxpayer. Whether you live in Brownwood, Bangs, Blanket, Brookesmith, Early, May, Zephyr, or on Lake Brownwood, you have a voice on the Brown County Commissioners’ Court via your elected County Precinct Commissioner. They, along with the County Judge, are your representatives on the court and along with each and every other elected official and county employee, care deeply about the future of our county.

As your County Judge, I will make it my mission to find new and innovative ways to support the Commissioners and all of the elected County officials, and employees. I will break through the age-old red tape commonly found in government and help these dedicated servants have greater latitude and resources in which to serve you.

The decision to ask for your vote and support to be the next Brown County Judge was an easy one. My faith in God and Country is as strong as they come and I feel called to do my part to help to help make a positive difference. The County Judge serves as the County Government’s Chief Executive Officer; it’s most visible leader. As such I believe that the County Judge should be a person who inspires all of the communities within the county with a clear vision of where we are now and where he would like to lead us in the coming days. He should be one that works hand-in-hand with the various city councils and other dedicated community leaders and members of our communities.

As we all know, there are those in our community that will tell you that Brown County’s best days are behind us and that we are all going to have to lower our expectations, settle for what we already have, and tell our children not to dream quite so big. I for one completely reject this ideology and I feel that you deserve better. I believe that with proper resolve and dedication, we have it within ourselves to accomplish any goal and to achieve any dream. We simply have to work together and we must start by proclaiming that our better days are not behind us and that we do not have to settle for less.

My name is Paul Lilly and I would be honored to have your support and your vote on March 6, 2018 to be the new Brown County Judge.  As always I am at your service.

Thank you for your time and support and God Bless You!
