Press Release – The Brownwood Regional Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center is recently announced Dr. Radley Nichols has completed extensive training to become a Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) by the American Board of Wound Management.

The Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) board certification is a prestigious and rigorous certification in wound care, and demonstrates a distinct and specialized expertise in the practice. The CWS credential displays to patients, employers and peers a dedication to the highest standards and achievement in wound care.

Dr. Nichols and Dr. Tim Bumann, Certified Wound Care Specialist since 2008, currently work rotating shifts as Wound Care Specialists at the Brownwood Regional Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Center. The Center has been providing outpatient wound care since 2007. The entire care team consists of physicians, technicians, and nurses who are specifically trained to provide treatment daily to those who suffer with chronic wounds.

A chronic, non-healing wound may be considered a wound that has not shown signs of improvement in several weeks or one that is not responding to typical treatments.  Sometimes those wounds may need extra help to heal. Difficult wounds of this type are often caused by injury, disease or poor blood supply. Brownwood Regional Wound Care Center provides specialized treatment for these types of wounds. The specialized treatment may include hyperbaric medicine treatment. This treatment option surrounds patients with difficult wounds with 100% oxygen in a comfortable, pressurized chamber. This saturation promotes the body’s natural immune system and healing responses, allowing wounds to heal more easily, from the inside out.
