Douglas Stephen Morris, 87, passed quietly in his home on December 18, 2015. He was born at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio on May 24, 1927, to Glenn Issachar Morris and Anita Zavada.  He joined the Navy in 1944 and served in the Philippines during WWII; after the war he returned to San Antonio where he met and married the love of his life, Mary Lou Bynum. They married in Seguin, TX on Dec. 11, 1948.  In 1949 he began his career as an air traffic controller with the (CAA) FAA; he retired to Blanket, TX, where they have lived for 40 years. Their life was full of adventure, trials, love and laughter.

He is preceded in death by his parents, only sister, Sherald Martin, and nephew, Tommy Martin. He is survived by his three daughters: Glenna Pocock, husband, Darrel; Carol Ann Morris, husband Mitch Blott; Sandra Rapp, husband, Wes; granddaughters: Melissa Morotini, husband Alex; Brenda Dufina, husband Dennis; Heather Whitford-Uglem; and Lucy Chiu-Ting Rapp; great-grandchildren: Morgan Whitford, Lawrence Whitford, Rachel Dufina, Andrew Dufina, Jenna Morotini, Tucker Uglem and Carson Uglem. Niece, Gail Adams and nephew, Morris Martin. He was greatly beloved of his family and friends.

A memorial at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, TX will be planned after the first of the year.
