Dorthie “Dob” Hill, 92, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 in Abilene. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Elliott-Hamill Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, with burial following in Potosi Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Dorthie was born in Brown County, Texas on March 18, 1923 to the late James Homer Purcell and Missouri Tennessee Brown Purcell. She attended school at Grosvenor, Texas and married Lloyd B. Hill in Brownwood on January 24, 1942. They moved to Abilene in 1951.
She worked for the Abilene School District in the cafeteria from 1973 until she retired. Dorthie enjoyed being a homemaker, a gardener, and was an incredible cook that was known for her delicious pecan pie. She was a member of First Pentecostal Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers; and a sister.
Survivors include her sons, Myrl Lloyd Hill and wife, Kim of Eula, and Billie Lee Hill and wife Sheila of the Colony, Texas; grandchildren Phillip Lloyd Hill and Kimberly Jean Hill both of Abilene, Megan Langston and husband Justin of Savannah, Texas, Bethany Hill of The Colony, Texas, Jackie Harper of San Angelo, Amy Clayton and husband Kevin of Clyde, Josh Wright of Abilene; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
