Dorothy Marie McNeal, age 86, of Brownwood went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 1, 2019.

Funeral Services for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at Calvary Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Slaymaker officiating; burial will be at a later date at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Dorothy was born to Jim Edward “Bill” and Ruth Mae (Philpott) Voyles on February 23, 1933, in Tell, Texas. She graduated from Childress High School in 1951. Dorothy married the love of her life, Bill McNeal, on September 11, 1952, in Carey, Texas in a church her dad had built. She was a Kindergarten teacher’s aide at East Elementary for 21 years.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church; she loved to serve the Lord. Dorothy loved to go fishing, crochet, and cook for the family. Most of all, she loved just being with her family.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bill McNeal of Brownwood; daughter, Wanda McNeal Murphy of Ft. Worth; son, Grover McNeal and wife Susan of Providence Village; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Landry and husband Roy of San Angelo; and sister-in-law, Creta Voyles of San Angelo. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her son, Danny McNeal; parents, Bill and Ruth Voyles; brother, Willie Dean Voyles; sister, Billie Sims; daughter-in-law, Val McNeal; and granddaughter, Catherine McNeal.
