Dorothy Elizabeth Hurley, age 94, passed away on January 3, 2012 in Brownwood, Texas.  She was born on April 30, 1917 in Cambridge, Maryland and was a longtime resident of Brownwood.  She was formerly of Elliot’s Island, Maryland.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hurley; her parents Capt. Roland and Nellie Seward; her brother and sister-in-law, Mil and Harvey Seward; her son-in-law, Don McClain; and three great grandsons, Jesse James McClain, Charles Slacum, Jr., and Jonathan David Wright.

Survivors include her daughter Eve McClain; eight grandchildren, Debbie and Darrell Wright, Lisa and Mike Bierfreund, Crystal Gray, Robin and Larry Hair, Tommy Don McClain, Kristi and Shane McClain, O’Neil and Michael O’Conner, and JoAnn and Charles Slacum; twenty six great grandchildren and twenty three great great grandchildren.

Dorothy was a Methodist.  She loved to cook and took great joy in doing parties for the family, especially during the holidays.  Her life was dedicated to spending time with her family and she was always doing things with them and for them.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas, with Bro. David Barnum officiating.  The family will receive friends on Friday, January 6, 2012 from 6 – 7 PM at Blaylock Funeral Home.
