Dorothy Ann (Beaty) Burks, age 90, of Brownwood went home to be with the Lord on December 28, 2016.
Dorothy was born on April 1, 1926, to Dan and Dona Mae (Lindsey) Beaty in Downing, Texas. Dorothy married Harold Ray Burks on October 12, 1949 in Comanche. She was a housewife and worked with her husband at Burks Transfer & Storage, Merchants Fast Motor Lines, and Burks Studio.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Harold Ray Burks; her parents; brothers, Alton M. Beaty and his wife Annie, Tommy Dan Beaty; sister, Allene Bausell and her husband Jack.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, David Harold Burks and wife Deane A. of Georgetown, TX and Dr. Stephen Ray Burks and wife Claudia G. of Woodstock, GA; 3 grandchildren, Jared Burks and wife Connie of San Antonio, TX, Brandon Burks and wife Meagan of Brazoria, TX and Anthony Burks of Lubbock, TX; and 4 great-grandchildren Cami Burks, JD Burks, Sadie Burks and Parker Burks. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Jimmie Beaty; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Dorothy will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 2, 2017, at Central United Methodist Church with Rev. David Medley and Rev. Bill Slaymaker officiating; burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Comanche. Visitation will be held at Sunday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 pm at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
