Doris Marie Eoff Wheeler, age 90, of Early died early Friday morning at CARE Nursing Center.  Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 4:00 PM at the Loving Family Cemetery in May, Texas. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 PM on Sunday, April 16th at Heartland Funeral Home.

Doris was born in Blanket, Texas on June 5, 1926. She was the daughter of George & Lucile Eoff. She attended Blanket School.  She married DeVern Wheeler at Salt Creek Baptist Church on September 10, 1944.  They celebrated 67 years of marriage together.  Doris and DeVern owned and operated Wheeler’s D & D Trim Shop in Early for over 60 years. There were many fun times at “The Shop” as it was the neighborhood hang-out.

Doris was an active member of Early United Methodist Church, being part of the original founding group which moved from Johnson Memorial Methodist Church. She loved helping people and served meals on wheels until she was in her early 80’s. She was a sweet, kind woman and will be greatly missed by many.

She is survived by her son, George Wheeler and wife Vicki of Early; three daughters, Sandra Wylie of May, Emma Williams and husband Dennis of Early, and Exa Villa and husband Chris of Houston.  11 Grandchildren, Robert Speck and wife Amanda, Jennifer Stephens, and husband Blake, Crystal Denman and husband Larry, Crystin Carothers and husband Jack, Andrew Wheeler and wife Megan, Laura Hancock and husband Shawn, John Williams, Justin Williams, John Smith and wife Elena, Kristi Huxford and husband Brent, Chad Smith and Amber Byler.  She also has 17 Great Grandchildren. She is survived by her brother GW Eoff and wife Una May, sisters Emma Jean Jones of Blanket and Mildred Haynie and husband Hershel of Humble, sister-in-law Barbara Eoff of Clyde.  There are numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband DeVern, her parents George & Lucile Eoff, two daughters Laura Jean Wheeler and Verna Marie Wheeler, two brothers Drew Eoff and Bert Eoff.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be sent to Early 1st United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 3281, Early, TX 76803.
