Dorine McCarty, 83, passed away peacefully with her son by her side on May 1, 2015 after a brief illness. Dorine was a 1950 graduate of Brownwood High School. She married Preston McCarty in 1951 in Brownwood, Texas. After 60 years of marriage Preston preceded her in death in 2011. A native of Brownwood, Dorine and Preston operated a family business for 25 years, and she was a devoted homemaker during her later years. Dorine and Preston had one son, who was born in 1956. Dorine supported Preston and Don in their family business for many years. She was always ready to help with a tender word or gentle hand.
Dorine and Preston enjoyed taking their travel trailer down to the coast at Galveston, and going to Nebraska to visit with close family. Dorine loved to cook for her family and take care of her grandchildren, whom were the light of her life. Dorine and Preston were members of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church.
Dorine is survived by her son Don McCarty and his wife Sharla of Brownwood. Her sister Willene Strickland and husband Jim of Omaha, Nebraska. Grandson Tyler and Bria McCarty of McKinney, and granddaughter Kristen McCarty of Brownwood. Dorine was recently blessed with a great-grandaughter, Riley Grace McCarty, of Mckinney. Nephews and nieces; Jimmy and Kim Strickland of Wisconsin, Marsha and Lance Lincoln of Nebraska, and Tommy and Jami Stickland of Nebraska. Along with many other cherished cousins and family members. Dorine had many close friends, which she loved, as well as her four-legged companion “Jack”.
A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015, at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas. A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Heartland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenleaf Cemetery.
