Donnie Burl Gifford, age 74, of Brownwood passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015 at his residence with his family by his side.
Burl was born May 14, 1941 to Joe William and Lora Mae (Keel) Gifford in Eastland County. He was baptized at May Calvary Baptist Church when he was in his teens. Burl married his lifetime soul mate, Linda Carol Gill, on December 22, 1959. He worked as a Maintenance Coordinator for Texas Department of Transportation, until retiring in 2003. Burl had a passion for antique and military cars; which he turned into his hobby of restoring antique cars. Although Burl had a passion for cars, his greatest was his family. He deeply loved and cared for his family and enjoyed family get-togethers.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Gifford of Brownwood; daughters, Bonnie Belvin and husband Ricky of Brownwood, Donna Hair and husband Tully of Early; sons, Donnie Gifford of Brownwood, Ray Gifford and wife Jeannie of Brownwood; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; mother, Lora Gifford of Zephyr; sisters, Verle Rice and husband Eddie of Brownwood, Silla Grice, and Sheyrl Myrick both of Brownwood; brother, Sam Spurlock of Brownwood. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.Burl was preceded in death by his father, J.W. Gifford; sisters, Joetta Hill and Carol Spurlock; brother, Johnny Spurlock.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Clear Creek Cemetery, with Bro. Richard Hetzel officiating. The family will receive friends from 6–8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
