“Don” Donald Wayne Cody, Sr of Santa Anna Texas was called from his home to the Lord December 25, 2010 at 11:30 pm
Don was born December 22, 1943 in Dallas Texas to Elizabeth Wallace Kelley, and Elmo Cody. He attended Andrews High School, and Graduated from Permian High School in 1963. He joined the Navy and served his country aboard the USS Saratoga where he received several Commendations for outstanding service. He was a loving husband and father. In 1966 he married Cloyce Young and just celebrated their 44th Aniversary. He was servived by his wife Cloyce Young Cody, two children Donald W. Cody, Jr and Laura Lee Cody Cotham all of whom he loved and cherished deeply. He was blessed with three grandsons (tripplets) Zachariah “Zack” Cody, Isaiah Cody, Joshuah “Josh” Cody, and one Step Grandson Adrien Canales. His mother-in-law Gladys Hanke Young who loved him as her own, two brothers “Ron” Ronald D. Cody and Jack Hogan, two sisters Cathy Medford and Kirby Thomas .
Don lived and worked in Odessa TX for 46yrs until 2009 when he retired from Sulzer Pumps as a machinist and moved to Santa Anna TX.
Don was a man of truth, trust, loyalty, kindness, a heart full of love, and a friend to all, he will be greatly missed! Ecclesiastes 7:1 says “A good name is better than fine perfume”.
He was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth Wallace Kelley, his father Elmo Cody, his step-father Robert “Bob” Medford, and his stepbrother Bobby Cody.
We may grieve but we also celebrate his reunion with our gracious Heavenly Father.
A special thanks to Phil (Son-in-law) and Jennifer (daughter-in-law) for the sacrifice they made in their life by letting us spend the last month and a half with our father.
Memorial Services to be held at Assembly of God Church, 300 S. 8th St – Hwy 283, Santa Anna, Texas on January 1, 2011 at 3:00 in the afternoon. Don will be laid to rest in the Cody family cemetery in Burkett Texas following the memorial service.
