Graveside Services for Donald J. Meador, age 75, of Brownwood will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Windham Cemetery (at Byrd’s Store) with David Barnum officiating. Visitation will be held prior to graveside service from 1-2:30 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
Donald went to be with the Lord Thursday, July 28, 2016, with his family by his side.
Donald was born to William and Lois (Tabor) Meador on March 9, 1941, in Brown County. He attended May I.S.D. Donald married the love of his life, Bonnie Williams, on January 20, 1962 in Michigan. Donald joined the United States Army; as a Staff Sergeant, leader of Squad 76, he earned the Silver Star for his effective use of indirect fire and air support during the VC assault. He retired from the Army after 20 years of service. After the Army, Donald worked for Ingram Concrete and retired after 23 years. He was a Christian and had a love for the Lord. Donald loved to fish and hunt, and collect arrow head and rocks.Donald is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bonnie Meador of Brownwood; daughter, Jeannie “B.J.” Daughrity and husband Danny of Ft. Worth; son, Don E. Meador and wife Tamra of Snyder; 4 grandchildren, John Daughrity, DeAnna Estes, Ami Daughrity, Shelby Meador, and Zachary Meador; 2 great-grandchildren, Ashton Daughrity and Dani Jane Daughrity; 2 brothers, Jerry Meador, Johnny Meador and wife Gail; sister-in-law, Hope Meador of Overton; and special nephew, Jerry Don Meador of Brownwood. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and 1 brother, Robert Meador.
