Funeral Services for Donald Hester, age 79, will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday December 29, 2010 at the Davis Morris Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Salt Creek Cemetery under the direction of Davis Morris Funeral Home.
Donald (Don) Ray Hester, 79, of Dallas Texas, passed away December 24, 2010. Mr. Hester was born 15 April, 1931, in Brownwood, Texas, to Elmer and Lura Hester.
He attended High School in Brownwood, and continued his education at Texas A&M University, graduating with a B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering. He obtained a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Don served his country by joining the United States Army, 1954-56. He was a commissioned officer and reached the rank of 1st Lieutenant. During his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
Mr. Hester excelled in the oil business, working for multiple oil companies in Texas, Colorado and Oklahoma. He settled in San Antonio and was employed by Tesoro Petroleum, as an oil exploration engineer. He retired from Tesoro, as Vice President of Oil Production. Upon his retirement he continued to work part-time as a real estate broker, tax appraiser for Dallas County, and tax advisor for H.R. Block.
Mr. Hester was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy.
He is survived by his two daughters, Melissa Graves of Rowlett, Texas, and Angela Lynch of Kingwood, Texas; and 4 grandchildren Amanda Graves, Kelsey Lynch, Tyler Graves, and Zachary Lynch.
