Funeral services for Kenneth Don Davis, age 83, of Bangs, will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 29, 2019 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Blake officiating. Burial will follow in the Bangs Cemetery. The family will receive friends for 30 minutes prior to the chapel service.

Kenneth Don Davis was born on March 7, 1936 in Concord to Bart Davis and Oma Lee Alexander Davis. He attended school at Concord until 1949, when his family moved to Thockmorton. Don graduated from there in 1953. After graduation, he did odd jobs around town until he was drafted into the Army in 1958. He spent five years in the service in various locations from Colorado to California to Korea.
Upon his discharge from the Army, Don settled in California where he worked for Global Van Lines for 23 years. In 1986, he and a close friend, Wesley Ramsey, decided to build a house and move to Hawaii where Don worked as an assistant to a veterinarian. They lived there until 1994 when Wesley was diagnosed with cancer. Not wanting to stay in Hawaii by himself, they moved to Bangs to be close to Don’s sister and her family. Upon Wesley’s passing, Don continued living in Bangs where he worked several years for his niece at Carol’s Cakes & More. After that, he went to work for Section Hand Restaurant in Brownwood where he was well known and many customer requested his tables.
Facing surgery and many health issues, Don moved in with his niece, Carol McVay and her husband Randy, in 2015, where he happily lived until his death.
Don was a member of Concord Baptist Church where he was known for his love of music and singing. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his love for the Lord, and his happy and fun-loving attitude. He loved to joke and was always quick with a comeback for everyone.
Don is survived by his niece Carol McVay and husband Randy of Bangs, his sister, Betty Rankin of Throckmorton, his brother, Bert Davis and wife Donna of Throckmorton, his brother Bob Davis of Houston and many nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Dona Guthrie, his brothers, M J Davis, Edward Davis and Derral Davis.
