Dolores Mae Pluckhahn, 69, of Blanket, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at San Angelo, Texas. Visitation for Mrs. Pluckhahn will be from 5 PM to 7 PM at Davis- Morris Funeral Home. Services for Mrs. Pluckhahn will be on Saturday, January 11, 2014, 1:00 PM, at Davis-Morris Funeral Home with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Grosvenor, Texas.
Dolores Mae Cox was born on June 23, 1944 at Brownwood Memorial Hospital to James Harvey Cox, Sr. and Oleta Dolores Newton Cox. She married Dewayne Adrian Pluckhahn on June 17, 1966 in the May Methodist Church. They were married 35 years when he passed away after a lengthy illness.
She attended May High School. She received an Associate Degree in Home Economics at Tarleton State University in 1964. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree at North Texas State University. Because there were no teaching jobs available, the next year she went to Howard Payne University for a Minor in science. She taught science and junior high math at Priddy High School. She went to work at the Texas Department of Human Services for 24 years. She was a supervisor when she retired from the state at the age of 53 years to care full time for her disabled husband.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Marshall, of Blanket, Texas, and her dear friend, Cory Lomeli; a granddaughter, Makayla Marshall; her brother, James H. Cox and his wife Vicki of Longview, Texas; a niece, Amy Cammarano and her child Grace; cousin, Roy Alexander and Sandra, and a number of other cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, James and Oleta Cox, and her stepfather, Grady Brown.
