Bridging the Gap: Celebrating Brown County’s Diversity is a series of training sessions that teach building trust, purpose and power that can take an organization and a community to the next level of success. This diversity training will be offered on December 10, 2010 at the Adam’s Street Community Center (511 E. Adams St., Brownwood).
Training objectives are:
• To improve one’s ability to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures.
• Heighten awareness of one’s own cultural worldview and examine attitude toward cultural differences.
• Increase knowledge of different cultural practices and worldviews and cross cultural skills.
• Help participants move toward learning how to interact effectively with people of different cultures.
• Raise the level of diversity awareness and provide a refresher on business ethics.
The presenter of the training will be Otis L. Scott, Jr. Scott’s education/certification consists of a Dual M.S. of Human Resource Development and Management from Webster University; B.S. Management from National Louis University with honors; Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy, USAF; Academic Instructor, USAF; and Lominger Leadership Architect Instructor.
While all sessions are beneficial for all people, specific focus will be given to the following:
- Morning Session: Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice (Registration: 8:30, Training: 9-11am)
- Luncheon Address: Business/Community Leaders (11:30am-1:00pm, RSVP by Dec. 7)
- Afternoon Session: Social Services/Educators (Registration: 1:15, Training: 1:30-4:30pm)
The cost of the training:
- $50 for all three sessions and lunch
- $25 Morning Session only
- $10 Luncheon only
- $25 Afternoon Session only
