All employees at Brownwood ISD received an unexpected surprise on Tuesday, Dec. 14th. The Brownwood ISD Board of Trustees announced that a District Success Stipend of $250 would be added to the December paycheck of every employee.
An excerpt of the letter from the School Board to the staff reads:
“We are very proud of the successes experienced by the district. These successes have brought about a sense of community pride regarding our school district that Brownwood has not experienced in years. Brownwood ISD is now the district where educators want to work and parents want to enroll their children. These accomplishments do not happen without a tremendous amount of hard work and everyone working together as a team.
We cannot thank you enough for your commitment to the students of Brownwood. Please accept this stipend as our appreciation for all you do.”
Employees were very appreciative, and several responded by sending cards and emails to Superintendents and Board Members.
A few of the employees’ responses are below.
“I prayed on the way to work that something good would happen to me today.”
“You mean even WE get the bonus?” asked by a cafeteria staff person.
“With Christmas and medical bills, this could not have come at a better time. Now we can have Christmas.”
Superintendent Dr. Reece Blincoe stated, “We are very fortunate to be in the position to give our staff a stipend. I am proud of the work all of our staff put in, and it is fitting that they benefit from the District’s success.”
