Direct Energy today unveiled a partnership with Brownwood Independent School District that aims to give back to the community while increasing its presence among residents. As an added incentive for residents to switch to Direct Energy, a donation from part of the proceeds of that new customer’s everyday energy usage will be made to Brownwood ISD.

Free Power Saturdays is Direct Energy’s first postpaid product that allows consumers to alter their electricity consumption patterns so they can save more during a free day. It simultaneously aims to increase power grid reliability during high-power days when many energy users are impacting the grid most. As part of the plan, Direct Energy provides its customers with email communications to remind them to take advantage of their Free Power Saturday.In addition and for a limited time, Direct Energy is offering up to $200 in Restaurants.com gift certificates as an added incentive for customers to sign up for Free Power Saturdays. Customers who sign up for the 12-month Free Power Saturday plan will receive a $100 Restaurants.com gift certificate; if they sign up for the 24-month plan, they will receive a $200 gift certificate for Restaurants.com.
