AgriLifeExtensionAre you a busy person in search of quick, easy, delicious and nutritious recipes that can be prepared at home?  If so, then make plans now to attend a Dinner Tonight! Healthy Cooking School.  The Cooking School is sponsored by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Brown County and will take place on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Brown County Youth Fair Home Economics Building.  Pre-registration cost is $20 and must be received by April 8.  Registration will also be available at the door for a cost of $25.

The Dinner Tonight! Healthy Cooking School will not only provide the recipes, but will also provide live cooking demonstrations that will teach basic cooking concepts, techniques and nutrition that can be used throughout the kitchen.  Research has proven that cooking at home allows us to control calories, fat, sodium, and other key ingredients that tend to increase the risk of chronic disease such as diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.  By lessening the risk of these chronic diseases, a healthier, longer life can be achieved.

Participants will receive a “goodie bag,” Dinner Tonight Cookbook, various samples of healthy recipes and chances to receive great door prizes.  Doors will open at 5:00 p.m.  We are also looking for possible vendors and/or sponsors for this event.  If you would like to be a vendor and/or sponsor or for more information, please contact Kim Miles at the Extension office at 325-646-0386 or kamiles@ag.tamu.edu.  Registration forms are available at the Brown County Extension office or on our website at http://brown.agrilife.org.
