Deputy Report Details Horrific Killing of a Chihuahua Dog in Animal Cruelty Investigation

Brownwood News – Reports received from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office offer horrific details of the death of a small dog. The sheriff’s office is currently investigating a suspect named by the complainant.

According to reports from the sheriff’s office, Deputy Langley arrived at a Brownwood address on February 17th just after noon to investigate a report of animal cruelty. The deputy spoke with the complainant who reported a suspect (who was identified by name in the report) came into the yard of the residence and took a chihuahua dog off a chain. The suspect allegedly threw the small dog into the road, then ran the dog over with his vehicle, killing the dog.

The sheriff’s office currently is investigating charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Cruelty to a Non-Livestock Animal Kill/Poison, and a Criminal Trespass Warning.

• On February 16th at approximately 10:37 p.m., Deputy Rodriguez was dispatched to EZ – Mart N HWY 279 in Brownwood in regards to a male subject who was possibly intoxicated and falling asleep in his vehicle at the gas pump. After a pat down, the male subject, identified in the report as Randy Baskin, confessed to having an “illegal pipe” in his left front pocket. During a probable cause search of the vehicle, 0.4 grams, with packaging, of methamphetamine and a pistol was found inside the vehicle in plain view. Randy Baskin was arrested for Unlawful Carry of Weapon, 3^rd Degree Felony, Possession of Controlled Substance PG 1 < 1 gram, State Jail Felony, and Driving While Intoxicated, Class B Misdemeanor.
• On February 16th Deputy Fabbiani was dispatched to an address on St. Patrick Drive in Brownwood in reference to a Domestic Disturbance. The deputy arrived on scene and spoke with a suspect identified in the report as Tyler Austin Wylie. Further investigation led to the arrest of Wylie for Violation of a Protective Order. Wylie was transported to Brown County Sheriff’s Office and released to jail staff.
• Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Burke was dispatched for a criminal mischief report and investigation. Upon arrival, the complainant advised her pick-up had been damaged. The vehicle had numerous scratches throughout the entire surface of the vehicle. There was also evidence sugar had been placed into the gas tank of the vehicle.
