Brownwood News – Demolition began late Wednesday afternoon, May 20, at the site of a longtime Brownwood Restaurant.

Skillet’s, 500 East Commerce, is being demolished to make room for a freestanding Chick-fil-A Restaurant.

According to our Brownwoodnews.com file, it was at a meeting February 18, 2020 of the Brownwood Municipal Development District Board that they approved a development and infrastructure incentive not to exceed $100,000, plus fill dirt according to the flood permit, to Lisciotti Development, based in Boston.

According to Ray Tipton, Executive Director of the Brownwood Municipal Development District, Lisciotti is a preferred developer for Chick-fil-A.  They are doing several projects in Texas.  The developer hopes to move quickly, weather permitting, Tipton said, with plans to have the Chick-fil-A up and running by this coming Fall.

Skillet’s family style café served the people of Central Texas for over 30 years.
