Delma Marie “Buster” Fowlkes, age 68 of Bangs, passed away Wednesday morning, November 13, at Brady West Nursing and Rehab in Brady.

She was born October 20, 1951 in Hico, Texas the daughter of John Gustov Eisen and Delma Darlene Wagner Eisen.  The family lived in San Antonio where she was baptized in the Baptist Church at age 4.  Later the family moved to the Indian Gap area where she attended schools at Pottsville where she played basketball and was a cheerleader.  She was active in Girl Scouts as a young girl.

Marie married Ronnie Fowlkes on January 20, 1989.  They lived in Bangs.  Marie worked in several restaurants most of her adult life.  She loved people and would talk to anyone.  She never met a stranger and gained the nicknames “Tootie” and “Buster”.  One of her favorite things was high school football but most of all cooking and serving the coaches and staff after a game.  She rewarded the players often times by making them their favorite pie or cake.  She loved to bake and participated in the Texas Bank bake and craft show each year and at the Brady West Nursing Home.  She was also an avid gardener and loved to share produce with others.  She also loved animals of all kinds but especially her dogs that she had over the years.

She is survived by her husband, Ronnie of Bangs, her son Richard Hoherz and his daughter Veda, her daughter, LeAnn Hoherz, LeAnn’s son Shemar Lee and grandson Shemar Lee II, Ronnie’s children, Leah Miller and daughter Mackenzie Rosales and spouse Mack and their children Henry and Addison, Leah’s son Collin Miller and wife Kristina and their children, Kennedy and Colton, Bridgette Fowlkes and daughter Tiffany Reitmann and husband Chris, their children Kaylee, Taylor, Harlee and Presley, Bridgette’s son, Joshua Holmes, Gwendolyn Thomas and husband Thomas and their daughter Rebecca Wright and husband Cody and their children Blade and Lucero, Maritia Barham her children Garrett and his wife Kelsey, their daughter Madeline Brown and husband Jack and Maritia’s son, Carson, and son J. Fowlkes and wife Marci, their children Jordan Fowlkes and wife Kelly, children Jackson and Josie, Courtney Hansen and husband Albert, their children Logan and Kathryn, Megan Linley and husband Billy, their children Isabelle and Addison and Hayden Fowlkes and wife Sarah, Marie’s siblings, Johnny G. Eisen and wife Debra, Elizabeth Pierce and husband Tommy, Bea Coble and husband Curtis, Jaquata Stout and husband Richard, and Jennifer Young and husband Eric.  Nieces and nephews include Johnny G. Eisen, Jr. and wife Denita, Jason Pierce and wife Christy, Trent Pierce and wife Kym, Sheldon Coble and wife Tammy, Keisha Stout and spouse Tony DeLucia, Keirstann Stout, James, Jacob and Jaileigh Young, and great nieces and nephews, Jaylee and Lacey, Merritt (who preceded her in death) Jaydon and Caiden, MyKayla and John Wayne, Adalyne, Matthew, Emmalyn, and Kingstonn.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday at the First Baptist Church in Bangs with Dr. Pepper Dill officiating.  Burial will follow at the Bangs Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 PM on Sunday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
