Delbert Lee Humberson, 84, of Early, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015, in Brownwood. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, January 17, 2015, in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenleaf Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 16, 2015, at Davis-Morris Funeral Home, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
Delbert Lee Humberson was born August 27, 1930, in Brownwood, Texas, to Willie Payne and Lanna (Elms) Humberson. He married Frances Louise Brown on November 5, 1960, in Lawton, Oklahoma. Delbert served 4 ½ tours in Vietnam, where he flew combat and rescue missions. He was shot down twice while risking his life to help his fellow soldiers. Right to the end, Delbert Lee was two-stepping thru life and playing dominoes with the best of them. Lois Watkins, bless her heart, was his partner in this. Delbert Lee was father, friend, mentor, role model, and hero, not only to his sons, but also to his fellow soldiers and friends.
Mr. Humberson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances Humberson; and his sister, Linda Dale Brown.Mr. Humberson is survived by 3 sons, Charles Humberson and wife Patricia of Lawton, Oklahoma, Robert Humberson and wife Vie of Jakarta, Indonesia, and James “Rusty” Humberson and wife Terri of Foley, Alabama;cousins, Ernest Humberson and wife Eva of Cypress, Texas and Joyce Hamrick of Tye, Texas; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and many other family members.
