Press Releases – Contractors for the Texas Department of Transportation are scheduled to perform seal coat operations on portions of Early Blvd. (US 67/84/183/377) and US 84/183 South on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 18-19, 2017.

During the operation, motorists can expect delays as intermittent lane closures occur. Flagging personnel will be in place to guide traffic through the work areas. Drivers are reminded that traffic fines are doubled in work zones when workers are present.

Efforts will be made to minimize impacts to traffic, though motorists are asked to exercise patience and allow extra time to reach their destinations while crews complete this operation.

The seal coating operation is a routine maintenance procedure in which liquid asphalt is sprayed on top of the existing road surface, followed by the application of finely crushed highway-grade rock. The process seals any existing cracks in the asphalt and creates a new driving surface for vehicles. This procedure greatly extends the life of the roadway and significantly reduces overall maintenance costs.

TxDOT’s Brownwood District includes Brown, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Lampasas, McCulloch, Mills, San Saba and Stephens counties.
