Funeral services for Delano “Sonny” Campbell, age 82, of Brownwood will be held Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 2 PM at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church. Burial with military honors is pending with the VA Cemetery at lake Fort Phantom, Abilene, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home. Mr. Campbell passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017.
Delano Lamar Campbell was born January 28, 1935 to Tom and Addie Lee (Savage) Campbell in Palo Pinto County, Texas. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean War while stationed in the Panama Canal. Sonny married Hazel Vines on April 19, 1957 in Abilene and moved to Brownwood in 1982 where he joined Coggin Avenue Baptist Church. Sonny was an active member in the church, and he never ever, EVER met a stranger.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his beloved companion, Donna Jameson, daughters Karen VanderHill and husband Bryan of Charlotte, North Carolina, Teresa Parvin and husband Rick of Brownwood and Sherry McInturf of San Antonio; brother James Walker and wife, Frances; grandchildren Reagan VanderHill, Kelsey VanderHill, David and Lindsey Vinson, James Vinson and K.C. McInturf; great grandchildren Olivia Vinson and Corbin Vinson; sister-in-law Peggy Walker and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sonny was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Campbell and brother L D Walker.
