If there is someone interested in running for the District 60 seat in the Texas House of Representatives, there is still time to file for office.
When Representative Mike Lang withdrew from the election on the last day to file Monday, that triggered a section of the Texas Election Code that extends the filing period for five days for interested Republicans.
Section 172.054 of the Texas Election Code states: An application for an office sought by a withdrawn, deceased, or ineligible candidate must be filed not later than 6 p.m. of the fifth day after the date of the regular filing deadline. An application filed by mail with the state chair is not timely if received later than 5 p.m. of the fifth day after the date of the regular filing deadline.
The new deadline to file for a place on the March 3rd primary ballot is 6:00 pm on December 16.
