A funeral service for David Shuler, 68, of Lake Brownwood was held at 2 pm on Tuesday, June 26, in the Netherton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Hall officiating. As David had wished, his body was cremated under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home and Cremations.
Mr. Shuler passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at a local nursing facility.
David Shuler was born on May 8, 1944, in Carthage, MS to Vonzel Vernon Shuler and Mary Alma Robertson Shuler. He was a member of Ross Mary Baptist Church in Lake Village, Arkansas and had lived at Lake Brownwood for the last 15 years. Throughout his life he had taken care of his mother and brothers and had worked at Sandy Beach for the last 15 years. He loved his job, caring for the park and the animals, and will be greatly missed by those that knew him.
Survivors include his brother, Jake Shuler and wife Mary, of Wink, Texas as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vonzel Vernon and Mary Alma Shuler; four brothers, Homer, Rufus, Buster and Forrest Shuler; one sister, Bessie Peniger and his best friend “Happy Camper.”
