Graveside services with military honors for David Mansel “Jack’ Henry Sr., age 85, of Blanket, Texas will be held 10:30 AM Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle, Oklahoma with Rev. Marty Williams officiating. The family will receive friends 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Saturday. February 10, 2018 at the Heartland Funeral Home of Early. Mr. Henry passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018 in Brownwood.
Jack was born on April 23, 1932 in Trousdale, Oklahoma to Dave Mansfield and Zelma Clara Kelly Henry. He was a 1950 graduate of Wanette High School and married Leona Earlene Jones on November 6, 1952 in Borger, Texas. Jack entered the United States Army on November 19, 1952 and served during Korean Conflict. He spent most of his service in Germany as a Military Policeman and was honorably discharged at the rank of a Corporal on October 28, 1954. Upon Exiting the Army, Jack worked for Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City and transferred to the Federal Aviation Administration where he retired as a Avionics Technician in 1988 after 34 years of service. After retirement he and Leona moved to Blanket where he was a member of the First Baptist Church. Jack enjoyed country and western dancing, visiting with friends at the coffee shop, fishing, reading western novels and traveling.
Survivors include his wife Leona Henry of Blanket, Texas; son David Henry and wife Terri of Conroe, Texas; grandchildren Angela Beth Vanek of Magnolia, Brent Henry and and wife Angela of Montgomery, SSGT Robert “Bobby” Hawk and wife Karen of El Paso, SSGT Christopher “Chris Henry and wife Tiffany of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Lana Brooks and husband Paul of Meeker, Oklahoma, Tony Henry and wife Allura of Noble, Oklahoma and Denna Garner and husband Roy of Bowlegs, Oklahoma and by twenty one great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and by two sons and Russell Warren Henry in 1990 and Dale Lee Henry in 1997.
