Ret. SSG. David Manear, 62 of Brownwood, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
David Manear was born January 6, 1952 in Falfurrias, TX to the parentage of Raymond and Lorene Manear. David received his primary education from Falfurrias I.S.D. After graduating he joined the United States Army, protecting our country for 20 years. David received an honorable discharge from the United States Army in the late 80’s and began his career in the correctional field. He worked in Huntsville, Beeville, Gatesville, and Brownwood and retired from TDC after 23 years of honorable service. David was always involved in a variety of projects with his family, consistently working and fixing things. David was a very giving man and was always willing to help anyone in need.
David was an avid outdoors man. Some of his hobbies included fishing, camping, reading and he loved watching old movies.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 23 years Shirley Davis, 3 daughters “Cupcake” Lorene Gogerty of Montana, Bobby K. Henderson of Iowa, and “Scooter” Carole Hill of Gatesville, TX,. 2 sons Richard Manear of Brownwood, TX, and David Ray Manear of Gatesville, TX. 3 step Children Ricky Davis of Brownwood,TX, Debbie Griffin of Early, TX and Helen St. Martin of Brownwood, TX. 2 brothers “Buddy” Raymond Manear of Belton, TX and Scotty Manear of Belton, TX and 1 sister Helen Easterling of Temple, TX. 17 grandchildren to include Ashley Gogerty, Matthew Gogerty, Tyler Henderson, Alyssa Henderson, Elizabeth Hill, Samantha Hill, Bethany Hill, Gage Hill, Mikey Manear, Shannon Manear, David Manear, Maddie Manear, Heather Davis, Ricky Davis, O’Brien Norris, Cody Mitchell, Gracie Schwarzbach.
David was preceded in death by both parents and 2 sisters Alberta and Kaylee.
