Funeral services for David Earl Pettis will be Wednesday December 21, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the Heartland Funeral Chapel in Early, Texas. Interment will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery Brownwood, Texas. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Mr. Pettis passed away Sunday at a local hospital.
He was born January 4, 1931 in Jackson, Alabama to David Elvin and Addie James Pettis. On November 15, 1950 he was married to Juanita Spearman in San Angelo, Texas. Mr. Pettis was a member of the Victory Baptist Church. He has lived in Brown County for the past eighteen years. His hobbies were his grandchildren, fishing, football and boxing.
He is survived by his wife of sixty one years Juanita Pettis of Brownwood, two sons James and wife Peggy Pettis of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ronnie Pettis of Las Vegas, Nevada, one daughter Carolyn and husband Gary Don Kelley of Early. He is also survived by his grandchildren ; Chelsea and husband Conrad Byers of Las Vegas, Kristy Hays of Early, Wesley Pettis of Las Vegas , Lexi Pettis of Las Vegas, Stetson Kelley of Early,and Zachary Kelley of Early. One great-granddaughter Shelbie Hays Cook. Numerous other family members.
Mr. Pettis is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one grandson David K. Pettis. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Victory Baptist Church.
