David A. Watson, age 85, of Coleman, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Coleman County Medical Center.  Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 3, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with James Bailey officiating.  Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

David A. Watson was born on January 14, 1931 in Coleman, Texas, a son of Jim D. and Era Collier Watson.  He grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School.  He later graduated from the SMU Banking School.  On February 14, 1951 he married Betty DuBois in Coleman.  David was a banker for many years at First Coleman National Bank where he also served on the Board of Directors.  He was also a rancher.

David was a member of the First Christian Church where he served for many years as Treasurer.  He also was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Coleman Rodeo Association.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Watson, of Coleman; two children, Vicki Perry and husband Allen of Coleman and Alan Watson and wife Treva of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Bryan Perry of Coleman, Trevor Watson and wife Grace of Highland Village and Courtney Drake and husband Austin of Garland; three great-grandchildren, Faye, David and Hattie Wilson; five sisters and one brother, Veta Percy of Georgetown, Grace Crum of Kyle, Ruth Wilson of San Antonio, Carolyn Dix of Burleson, Marguerite Daugherty of Oregon and Collier Watson of Coleman.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Patty Finch.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.
