A graveside funeral service for Darrel Wayne Crafton, age 78, of May, will be held at 2:30 PM, Friday, April 20, 2018 in the Lost Creek Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM.

Darrel passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 at CARE Nursing and Rehabilitation.

He was born on August 27, 1939 in Dublin to Jimmie Mae (Gillilan) and Jessie L. Crafton.  His family moved to Brownwood in 1950.  Darrel graduated from Brownwood High School in 1957.  In the fall of 1959, Darrel began Electrical Apprentice program in Abilene.  He married Frances Cook on February 20, 1960.  In 1963, he completed the apprentice program and worked as a Journeyman Electrician for 40 plus years.

Darrel enjoyed his time installing Diamond Vision screens in sports venues in the United States, Canada and Mexico.  He also took part in raising cattle and farming.  He was a longtime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Darrel is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Frances Crafton of May; daughter, Tonja Walker and husband Mike of Cross Plains, two sons, Shane Crafton and wife Valerie of Henrietta and Jimmy Crafton and wife Colleen of Waynesville, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Heath Walker, Tiffany Walker Fox and husband Michael, Tyler, Ryan, and Lindsey Crafton, Ben, Anna, Sarah and Daniel Crafton and Skip Hicks, a friend whom Darrel loved as a brother.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Lost Creek Cemetery Assn, 8 Spring Hollow, Brownwood, 76801.
