The Tiger Scouts of Early Cub Scout Pack 4, Den 1 went on a “Go See It” at the Brownwood Bulletin Tuesday, January 31st.
GeneDeason, Editor, gave the boys a tour of the Bulletin offices, highlighting the different jobs that people hold in a newspaper office. He explained that there are people who write articles and
take pictures, and that the Bulletin is published as a newspaper and in an online version. He explained that there are people who run the presses that print the actual paper, and that there are people who
construct the online version using computers.
Amanda Leija, reporter and photographer at the Bulletin, took pictures of the boys during the tour, then showed them how she lays out an article on a page using her computer to place the picture in the right spot, and using the program to send the completed page to the printing machines. Although the presses weren’t printing while we were there, the boys got to look into the printing room and saw the large rolls of paper that then become the newspaper that we hold and read.
The Tiger Scouts of Early Pack 4 would like to thank Mr. Deason and Ms. Lejia for giving them a tour of the Brownwood Bulletin and showing them how stories are written, photographed, and then, ultimately, printed.
Participating in this “Go See It” trip were Aaron Bass, Javien Carbajal, Benjamin Benefield, Philip Benefield, Weston Thornhill, and Slater Sosebee.
