Cruz S. Dueñes, 81, passed away on November 24, 2019.
Services will be Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 10 am at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Early, Texas.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 29, 2019 from 6-8pm at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas.
He was born on May 27, 1938 at La Bandera, Mexico. He married Angelita Villegas Dueñes on June 14, 1958 and began a life together that blessed them with 7 children. Cruz Dueñes was a kind and humble man. He was family oriented and taught those around him many life lessons with his remarkable example of hard work, loyalty, faithfulness, integrity, patience, love and an unending list of wonderful qualities. Throughout his life he had many hobbies and activities he enjoyed including leather work, welding, caring for his yard, watching baseball and old western movies. He was always ready to help those in need using his multiple handyman skills whether it be carpentry, electrical or plumbing needs. He captured our attention with his amazing stories from his life experiences, and found great joy spreading the Bibles message in Brownwood and the surrounding communities as a baptized member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for the past 28 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Angelita Dueñes; son, Mario Dueñes; daughters, Elva Rosa Johnson and husband Wayne, Hortencia Cardona and husband Porfirio Jr., Ester Burkett and husband Billy Joe, Diane Salazar and husband Benito, Kris Siller and husband Charlie, son-in-law Juan Antonio Rodriguez Sr.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Juanita Villegas, Aristeo Dueñes, Edmundo Dueñes, Maria Ines Teran, Armandina Rios, Jose Lino Dueñes and Otila Villegas.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Delfino and Angela Dueñes; daughter, Diamantina Rodriguez, brothers and sisters, Margarita Garza, Felipe Dueñes, Crispin Dueñes and Esther Manriquez.
He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends who loved and cherished him.
