IMG_6825Area residents may have noticed a variety of scooters and motorcycles running around town lately.  It’s not your imagination, it’s the 28th Annual Texas Cushman Club State Meet along with the Mustang Motorcycle Club of America’s National Meet that’s at the Brownwood Coliseum this week.   You still have a chance to enjoy seeing some retro rides through Saturday, June 26th.

Over 200 Classic Cushman Scooters which were manufactured from 1937-1965 and Vintage Mustang motorcycles from made during 1946-1965 are on display and open to the public for viewing with free admission.

There are vendors with parts and accessories and the cycles themselves.  Browse outside booths and inside to see a variety of Cushman and Mustang cycles plus visit with their proud and knowledgeable owners who enjoy visiting about their cycles’ history.   There’s even a quiz about a Cushman that identifies the true Cushman expertise.

Seen in the photos below are several of the cycles along with some of the members such as Bobby Bishoff, David Kirk, Charles Lunday, and Jeff Ethridge (AKA the Wild Bunch) from the Waco area.  Also, Craig McBride, a 1966 Brownwood High School graduate now retired from the Houston area is enjoying the meet, displaying his Cushman scooters, one of which is a 1963 Silver Eagle (the pretty turquoise Cushman in the outdoor pictures).  Paul Smith of Sequin is seen with his purple 1957 customized Cushman cycle.

The President of the Cushman Club said that the meet has been a great success and all the members have enjoyed being in Brownwood.  They are looking to bring the meet back to Brownwood in the future.
