Crystin Cox and Seaman Apprentice Joshua Benefield were united in marriage on December 23, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. in the Chapel at First United Methodist Church of Brownwood with Joshua’s great-grandfather, Rev. G. A. VanHoose, officiating.
Crystin is the daughter of Crystie and Terry Lishka of Brownwood, TX, and Michael and Wendy Cox of Austin, TX. Joshua is the son of Jason & Miranda Benefield of Brownwood, TX, and Joy Anderson of San Antonio, TX.
Crystin was escorted and given in marriage by her father. She wore a formal dress of taffetta and organza, embellished with lace appliques and crystals, and a chapel length train. Her bouquet included white orchids, oriental lilies, carnations, and greenery.
Crystin’s maid of honor was her sister, Kayla Cox, of Brownwood, TX. Flower girl was Alexis Carrillo, cousin of the bride, of Early, TX. Serving Joshua as best men were his younger brothers, Benjamin and Philip Benefield, both of Brownwood, TX. Ring bearer was Damon Carrillo, cousin of the bride, of Early, TX.
The song, “Crazy For You”, by Adele, was beautifully interpreted and sung by Desiree Emberton, accompanies by Dawn Camp on the ukelele. Usher for the ceremony was Josh Lyons, cousin of the bride, of Brownwood, TX.
A reception following the ceremony was held in the Garden Room of the church. Both the brides and grooms cakes were made by Karen Lyons, Melissa Steelman, and Lisa Craddick, aunts of the bride. Wedding photography was done by Randy Craddick, uncle of the bride.
Crystin is currently a senior at Brownwood High School. Josh graduated from Brownwood High School in May 2011. He also graduated from the United States Navy bootcamp in October 2011. Following his leave for the holiday, he returned to Great Lakes Training Command to continue his advanced electronics training for the United States Navy in North Chicago, IL.
The couple was honored with a bridal shower on Sunday, December 18, hosted by Elise Lee and Steve Woodard.
