The Cowboy Capital Rollergirls, a regional amateur women’s flat track roller derby team, recently gave a donation of $1,000 to A World for Children, a non-profit foster care agency with offices in Brownwood and 11 other areas of the state.

The donation was made after the Cowboy Capital Rollergirls won 207-162 over the Team Free Radicals, an Austin-area league on Saturday, August 10th at the Brownwood Coliseum extending their season record to 9-5.  A check in the amount of $1,000 was presented to A World for Children, the August bout’s spotlight charity.

The Cowboy Capital Rollergirls are made up of members from as far away as Dallas to Santa Anna.  The team merged with the Brown County Debu’Taunts in January of this year.    They have their “home” bouts at both the Brownwood Coliseum and Lone Star Arena in Stephenville.  The league practices in Stephenville at the roller rink on Tuesdays and on Thursdays along with occasional Sundays at the Brownwood National Guard Armory.

The team has also offered their support to the fundraiser Zombie Getaway 5k in October which is being hosted by 3M of Brownwood.

“Our league is about 30 members strong right now so we have a lot to offer when it comes to being able to provide manpower for fellow organizations trying to help our community,” explained Ashley Gill aka “Gillotine Grace,” of Cowboy Capital Rollergirls.

The Cowboy Capital Rollergirls will be back in action Saturday, September 7th at Lone Star Arena against the Wichita Falls Derby Dames. Tickets on sale now, proceeds from this bout will go to the Erath County United Way to benefit CASA for the Cross Timbers Area, Inc.
