After years of having outside technology help and a few internal staff that know a little about software, Brown County approved hiring a county IT position, which will result in saving the county what is estimated to be about $22,000.

“We are at that point in Brown County that we need someone in a dedicated full time IT position,” stated County Clerk Sharon Ferguson who has been performing IT tasks in addition to her current duties.

The position will be staffed as a full time technology position and be officed within the Brown County Courthouse and supervised by the County Auditor.  The salary offered will be $49,000 plus benefits which add up to over $69,000 per year.  The start date will be May 3, 2011 due to a qualified person already picked for the position.  With a very specific system and job description, the county has hopes of bringing on this selected person which results in the job not being posted for applicants.

This full time position was considered necessary and beneficial to the County and will be paid out of the computer repair budget.

“If you have someone working for just Brown County, they will have our interests at heart,” stated Ferguson who has been working with outside IT help that often is not familiar with the county software.
