Brown County Judge Ray West released a statement regarding the plea arrangement and resignation of Commissioner Steve Adams.
“The news of Mr. Adams resignation saddens me. His absence from Commissioners Court will leave a vacuum in Brown County government which will be very difficult to fill. Over the years, Mr. Adams’ dedication and generosity to this County have been immeasurable. The Commissioners Court could always count on Steve to meet difficult issues and challenges without flinching. Whether I agreed or disagreed with him on a matter before the Court, I always admired his decisiveness and ability to weigh all sides of an issue.
In light of the tens of thousands of dollars saved by the County by many years of free use of Mr. Adams’ personal equipment, it may seem unfair that the County’s repair of that equipment is viewed as an offense, but Mr. Adams now understands that the letter of the law is not always fair.
I wish Steve and his family the very best. Brown County will sorely miss his leadership.”
