Brown County Commissioners voted unanimously Monday to extend the county-wide burn ban for another 90 days. County Judge Ray West said that the current burn ban would expire on February 15th.
West said that commissioners could suspend the burn ban before the new expiration date of May 15th if dry conditions improve.
Residents in the county are encouraged to contact their county commissioner regarding any possible burning during the burn ban.
In other items addressed during Monday, County Commissioners Court:
*Commissioners approved new appointments to the Brown County Historical Commission. Ronnie Lappe of the commission gave a yearend report.
*Brown County Jail Administrator Becky Caffey gave a report of a recent jail inspection. The inspection identified a few cracks in the building that Caffey felt were from normal settling of the building.
