commissionercourtarticlepicBrown County Commissioners will reconvene Wednesday, May 30th to continue discussion of the purchase of communications equipment with Homeland Security Grant funds after meeting Thursday morning in two sessions.

Commissioners are working out details of timing and the bid process in ordering the radios due to the time sensitive nature of the grant, needing to have all purchases and reimbursements completed by the grant’s July 31, 2012 deadline.   Purchasing through the bid process verses the pre-approved state DIR contracts was also discussed.

The court took a 25 minute recess for research, but no decision was made regarding the purchase on Thursday.  Commissioners will meet again Wednesday for further discussion in hopes of a decision.

If ultimately approved, the radios will be used by local law enforcement agencies.

In other matters on Thursday’s agenda:

*Commissioners did not approve a burn ban.

*Approval was granted to the family of Cpl. Tevan Lee Nguyen to move forward on plans to erect a memorial for Nguyen in the area of County Road 237 & 239.  Approval was granted to construct the memorial to county specifications for the sign type memorial.
