Approval of a HV/AC unit for the juvenile detention center was at the top of the agenda at the Brown County Commissioners meeting on Monday.
Commissioners heard how the old unit has had multiple repairs and is in need of a new compressor. The old compressor recently malfunctioned sending smoke down the vents and causing the staff to evacuate the facility temporarily.
The unit is also in need of heat exchangers which, along with the compressor, were going to be an expensive repair nearing $3200 when a new unit would cost $4250 including warranty with its installation. Roberts and Petty offered the $4250 bid which included a new Carrier unit with warranty while the other bid was submitted from Frost Air for a Comfort Maker package. Commissioners unanimously voted to approve awarding the bid to Roberts and Petty.
In other matters on the agenda:
*Joel Kelton, Commissioner of Precinct 2, presented a request for an amendment to the utility easement recently approved along CR 436 which will now cross the dirt road twice in order to bypass a property owner who was unwilling to allow the easement across part of their property.
