Residents of Brown County received some relief from the hot and dry August weather with some refreshing rain yesterday evening.
The Weather Underground reports that the official rainfall total for the area was 1.22 inches from last nights brief & gusty storm that blew in with wind gusts over 50mph. Several severe thunderstorm warnings were issued during the storm due to high wind and small hail.
Unofficial reports show anywhere from an 1 inch up to 1.35 inches of rain was received across the county in last nights storm.
Currently a frontal boundary is stationary over Central Texas which will give Brownwood about a 20% of rain this afternoon. The front will also give some relief from the recent triple digit temperatures with highs expected today at around 94 degrees.
