Governor Perry has proclaimed May 8 – 16, 2010 as Texas Travel and Tourism Week to coincide with National Travel and Tourism Week. Communities across Texas and the nation will take this opportunity to champion the benefits of travel and to acknowledge travel industry workers.
The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and Conventions & Visitors Bureau will celebrate this week by hosting an open house on Thursday, May 13th from 4:30pm-6pm at their offices located at 600 E. Depot.
“We want to commemorate National Tourism Week because tourism has such on impact on our area,” said the Conversions & Visitors Bureau’s Tourism Manager, Sunni Holloway. “Over $47 million in direct visitor spending flows into Brown County from tourists each year which has a significant benefit to local businesses and residents alike.”
Area residents are encouraged to stop by and have a tour of the historic Harvey House and see the Brownwood Visitor’s Center and Brownwood Store. Those in attendance will also get to meet the Chamber’s board of directors & enjoy some refreshments.
