Brownwood News – Brownwood Fire and Police units were on the scene of a HAZMAT incident Tuesday morning at Parkway and Belmeade, a few blocks west of Coggin Park. Atmos Energy personnel were also on scene.
According to Brownwood Fire Chief, Eddy Wood, a private contractor was doing underground boring and struck a gas line. Several homes in the immediate area were evacuated by police and fire personnel as a precaution. Road blocks were put up for several blocks surrounding the scene. As of about 11:00 am, the gas leak was under control, Wood said. There were no injuries.
