The Brownwood Reunion Celebration is approximately 1 month away and organizers and contestants alike are getting set for one of the most popular events, Hands on a House.  Contestant applications forms are now available online at the Reunion website, at Coldwell Banker at 1900 Austin Avenue, the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and at each sponsor’s place of business.

This year’s house style is a “Shotgun Home” which will be the grand prize.  The three day competition will be held September 19th-21st, and the last person with their hand in contact with the house is declared the winner and will take home the custom-built playhouse. Each year approximately 25 people compete in this contest.

There will also be extreme contests throughout the competition, including participating in the Reunion parade, various food drive competitions, being blind-folded, holding cans of food in various positions and/or other physical and mental challenges designed to eliminate competitors.

This year’s house is under construction by Kirby Cabler General Contractors who will build the home out of a railroad shipping container. There will also be a second place prize given away this year.

Registration deadline is 5:00 p.m. on September 9th, entry and release forms are to be turned into the Coldwell Banker office at 1900 Austin Avenue (at the corner of Austin Avenue and Avenue K).  The event will kick off at 5:00 p.m. on September 19th at the Hands on a House location at the corner of Carnegie and Adams Street.

This year’s competition is sponsored by Coldwell Banker, Mark Campbell & Associates, TexasBank Mortgage, Landmark Life Insurance Company, Ingram Concrete LLC, and Kirby Cabler General Contractors.
